About Us
Formed in December 2009, the Centre for Tourism, Leisure and Work (CLTW) is the first interdisciplinary research Centre of its kind within Southern Cross University spanning a range of schools and faculties. It stands apart from other tourism-orientated research centres in that it combines a focus on lifestyle pursuits (tourism, exercise science and leisure) with the economic driver of work.
In addition to being committed to developing an innovative, problem-based research agenda in the lifestyle, community, social and economic development research fields, the Centre has a strong focus on supporting academic career development. It provides a range of mentoring and capacity building activities for academic members and is intent on creating an environment which supports knowledge sharing and facilitates collaboration and cooperation between researchers and industry, government and community partners.
The CTLW is unique in that it is an interdisciplinary research centre spanning a number of school and faculties within Southern Cross University including the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, the Hotel School Sydney, Southern Cross University Business School, the School of Health and Human Sciences, the Faculty of Business and Law and the Faculty of Arts and Sciences.
Apart from engaging in academic development, mentoring and research support activities, academic members participate in the CTLW on a funded project basis, either through national competitive grants, commercial research grants or other funded projects and extension activities.

The CTLW is supported by a Centre Management Team and a Centre Advisory Board with research activities carried out by academic members.
